Pioneer

The first and original walking free tour in Santiago de Compostela runs through the most monumental area of the old area of Santiago, the essential details to know the city at the end of the Camino

The visit

The visit begins at the same square where all of the seven Ways of Santiago end, at the Praza do Obradoiro. There we will present the route and the city itself. We will talk about the foundation of Santiago in the Middle Ages, the discovery of the Apostle Santiago’s tomb and its subsequent evolution over the centuries. All this has made Santiago de Compostela one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Catholicism worldwide..

From the starting point in the Plaza del Obradoiro, the walk will advance through the best known squares of the city and that surround the Cathedral itself (Inmaculada, Quintana, Platerías, Fonseca) taking direction towards the Alameda Park. Afterwards, we will go to the Faculty of History and to the Mercado de Abastos, the fresh food market.

How did Santiago get to Compostela?

Who was the first pilgrim on the Camino? What is botafumeiro used for? What is a castro?

We will answer all these questions about Santiago de Compostela and Galicia during the visit, while observing the traces of time in the cobbled streets of the city and discovering more curiosities. At the end of the visit we will give you all the gastronomic and leisure recommendations in Santiago de Compostela and surroundings. In addition, you can pay whatever you want.you are free to fix the price.
